The most roman of the gods, Mars was believed to be the son of Juno, conceived through a mystical union with a fabulous flower. He was husband of Rhea Silvia and father of Romulus and Remus. He lived in forests and in the mountains presiding over the well-being of cattle, protecting agriculture and animals. The woodpecker, horse and wolf were sacred to him. He was the god of Spring long before his warrior functions supplanted his peaceful duties and he became the god of war and battle. His appearances struck terror in the enemy.
Mars can bring favor to these intentions:
- Cause enmity
- Disrupt friendship
- Increase courage
- Succeed in the military
- Overthrow enemies
- Wound others
Mars rules Tuesday and can assist in acquiring bravery, overthrowing enemies, obtaining military honors, instill courage and determination, and bring hostility amongst one's adversaries as well as summonongs souls from hell.
